Dwelling on anything else is pointless.
Yesterday is gone, if not forgotten, and tomorrow is not yet here, so why waste precious time and mental energy focused on either?
What is going on right now? That is the question.
And what can you do Right Now to make Now better?
Make each Now better and the future will take care of itself, while the past will not matter.
—Neale Donald Walsch
I don't know about you, but I have been known to spend a lot of time and energy fretting over issues or challenges that, at the end of the day, just don't matter. I've spent too much time living in ways that conflict with my values or that don't leverage the very best of me. I've spent too many hours being frustrated, being angry, and holding grudges against other people. I've spent hours of time on meaningless tasks that don't add value - to my own life or to the life of others.
I've been on a journey over the last few years to change this. As you may know from reading my prior posts, I've been shifting my mindset and am living with abundance and gratitude. I've been giving more of myself to those in my life. These significant shifts are impacting my life in big, meaningful ways.
The thing is, none of us knows how much longer we will be here to enjoy this life. Our circumstances can literally change in an instant. When we fritter away our time and energy on things that don't matter, it is truly a waste. There are many, many articles and books out there that discuss the importance of finding work/life balance. Some sources tell us we can have it and should strive for it. Other sources tell us it's a myth and impossible to achieve. Regardless of where you fall along this continuum; the thing is, we all have ONE life. And it is OUR responsibility to make the most of our one life, no matter where we are, what we are doing, or who we are with.
Rumi encouraged us to respond to every call that excites our spirit. Are you living this way now? If you aren't, what is stopping you? If you chose to feed your spirit, how would that change:
- What you spend your time on?
- Who you spend your time with?
- How you treat other people?
It is our responsibility to live our life fully, to enjoy the opportunities and the moments that we experience, to be grateful for what we have.
What excites your spirit?
How can you make your NOW even better?
